In compliance with the Illinois Human Rights Act (775 ILCS 5/1-101), the staff of IBHE provides annual and quarterly reports to the Department of Human Rights (DHR). IBHE develops and submits an Affirmative Action Plan and related reports that documents the agencies performance and compliance with DHR policies.
This report is in accordance with the Illinois Board of Higher Education Act (110 ILCS 205//9.21), which requires each public university to report to the Department of Human Rights, Attorney General, and Board of Higher Education on adjudicated cases of that have been alleged against the institution. Reports are reviewed, and follow-up conducted as required.
Throughout 2018, Outreach staff will provide support for the Underrepresented Groups in Academia Task Force. The Task Force consists of 20 members appointed from various groups representing educational, legal, and civil rights interests in an effort to develop recommendations on how to effectively prepare underrepresented students for a successful postsecondary educational experience in Illinois. Several meetings will be held in order to develop a final report that is due to the Governor and General Assembly by December 31, 2018.
The Illinois Terrorism Task Force (ITTF) was created in 2000 by State of Illinois Executive Order 2000-10 and established as a permanent entity in 2003 by Executive Order 2003-17. The ITTF serves as an advisory body to the Governor, the Governor’s Homeland Security Advisor and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA). The ITTF provides recommendations and guidance on homeland security laws, policies, protocol, and procedures, with a focus on establishing and maintaining long-term strategic solutions to the threats and realities of terrorism and all hazards, including technological, chemical, man-made and natural disasters, and major events. Per statute, IBHE must designate an appointee to serve on the Task Force. The Task Force holds quarterly meetings at IEMA in Springfield.
